You Make A Difference: A Message From The Chair
You Make the Difference
A Message from the Chair
Thank you to all the Delegates who came out to our Organizing Convention on Saturday. It was a great event and I want to thank all the Delegates for re-electing me as your Chair of the Salt Lake County Democratic Party.
I also want to congratulate and welcome our new County Party Officers: Quang Dang, our 1st Vice-Chair, Brian Faulkner, our 2nd Vice-Chair, Stacee Adams, our Secretary and Alan Anderson, our Treasurer. Your new Executive Committee is gearing up and you’ll be hearing more about our 2013 (and 2014) plans soon.
We also elected new Legislative District Officers at our Organizing Convention. Thank you to everyone who stepped up to help us organize Democrats in their area. The full list of Legislative District Chairs are available on the County Party’s website
When Democrats work hard and work together, we win in Salt Lake County. That work begins today.
This coming weekend will see many celebrations for Cinco de Mayo and we know that 7 out of 10 Latinos registered to vote will end up voting for Democrats. The County Party will be working with Pueblo Unido (the State Party’s Latino Outreach program) to register voters at many of these events. You can make the difference. Sign up to help change the electoral math in Salt Lake County (see the “Events” section).
Over the past couple months, we have asked for volunteers interested in grassroots organizing, candidate recruitment, event coordination, messaging and communication to let us know. By lending your time and talents to the County Party, you can make the difference. We will be starting to reach out to those volunteers and get working very soon, but there’s still time to sign up! See the “Calling All Democrats” section.
Lastly, the State Party’s Organizing Convention is coming up on June 21-22, 2013. This year the State Party is letting Delegates decide whether to keep our caucus system or move to open primaries. This is a HUGE decision about how we, as a Democratic Party, select our nominees for public office. The County Party encourages all Delegates (and all Democrats) to make your voices heard on this issue. You will make the difference. See the State Party’s website for further information.
Whether it’s registering voters, walking in a parade, beginning work with your new Legislative District Officers, or taking a leadership role in the County Party by volunteering—YOU make the difference in our Democratic Party.
Moving Forward Together,
Richard Jaramillo, Chair
Salt Lake County Democratic Party
